How to Write Without Editing
By Herman Yudiono
One time you took time to write a post for your blog. So that your writing is perfect, you improve every word and sentence you just wrote. The result? In one hour, you may be able to write two paragraphs, or about a hundred words. In fact, all the materials and reference your writing is already available.
Cause you can only write a hundred words in one hour it is you write while editing. To fix this, you need to do is to write without editing. Do the following:
1. Do not press the backspace key
When writing, commit not to press or use the backspace key on a computer keyboard or laptop. Do not fix mistyped words. Do not fix word that is not in accordance with the enhanced spelling (EYD). Keep writing without even using the backspace key.
2. Write down all the ideas that pop into your head
Write down any idea that pops into your head related to the topic being written. Never mind that you said was true or not. Do not think of the introduction that you make already attractive or not. Do not mind the coherence of each paragraph you create. Anyway, keep writing all the ideas that pop into your head until they run out or the number of words you want are met (eg 400 words).
Why?
Because writing is a right brain activity that is closely related to creativity or without logic. In other words, allow yourself to write as freely and as much as possible without shackled EYD rules and the like. After writing, then edit your writing (this stage you use the left brain).
By applying to write without editing it, you will be comfortable writing and more productive than ever before. It takes discipline to do it, but it will make you write as fast and as much as possible. Try!
Have you ever done this way before?
Addendum: The first draft of this post I made by writing without editing. You can download it here, and see the difference of this post.
